Surprise! No I didn't forget about you. X3

I was sitting here, a little bored, trying to figure out something to do when it dawned on me that I haven't been to my blog in quite some time. Nov. 15, 2008 to be precise. That's too long. I'm sorry. >.> I have to say I was a little suprised to see I had a few more followers. Thank you guys! :3

While my last post wasn't all that exciting, it did get me thinking. Why am I not posting more often. I know that I have some things someone might find interesting. Not to mention it could be a mark of my very own I leave on the internet. So, in my state of boredom, I decided to give you guys a few updates on what's been happening on my side of the world.

Well here we go:

I have now finished a whole year here in the Pacific Northwest. It's a little hard for me to believe. It's flown by so fast. Holidays have been weird not being near old friends and family. Me and my wolf, Krystal, have made do, though. She got to have her first 'real' snow and boy was she suprised. It was nothing like the snow she was born in, in Texas. We got quite a bit over the course of two and a half weeks. (18" deep) It shut down schools, places of business, and even my office. Oh and speaking of Miss Krystal, she turned 8 this December. It's hard to believe I've had her for so long. And it's hard to think that she is that old because she still acts like a puppy most of the time. Nuzzling me. Trying to crawl in my lap. (and she is 80 lbs. DX) Happy birthday baby girl. :3 Anyways, moving along.

Something that may not be known to my readers is that I am an artist and a musician. I went to an art university majoring in New Media, which is a combination of traditional and new mediums(ie. computer graphics), and I have been around music all of my life so naturally it tends to flow out of me. With that said, I have had the pleasure of playing with some truly amazing people and working with outstanding artists over the years.

Back in 2005, I started a solo project under the moniker: Xryptik and began posting demos on a myspace music account: www.myspace.com/djxryptik

It was through this that I was invited to play at some pretty awesome venues. While I was floored by the invites, I couldn't honor them because I was recording and playing everything myself. I was not setup for a live performance. So the venues, who came to ME, went on their way. Yea, I know sad story. Anyways.

So on the creativity front, things have been rather stagnant. I haven't done anything art wise since I moved to Washington state (and I know that's bad). When it comes to music things have been going albiet slow but they ARE going.

One month after moving here, in 2007, I started an electonic song that was pretty radio friendly and had potential but soon it fizzled out on me and I lost the inspiration for it. I go back even now and am surprised by it. I usually write more ambient, soundtrack friendly tracks but that one really was my first step towards writing lyrics and singing by myself. Since then I have written almost solely on my acoustic guitar.

Don't get me wrong, I still get tons of ideas for ambient/chill tracks but my ability to have time to focus on my music like that...in the current place I live is non-existent. Someone is always knocking on my door (ruining recordings).

But there is some major good that has come from it. As of late, I have been getting lyrics like crazy. (before I couldn't write lyrics to save my life. now they won't stop coming.) And with the lyrics I have been more open about singing too. And all of this has come together at the right time as well because I am now writing music with a guitarist that is so much of a higher calibur musician than I am. It's an honor just that he plays with me, much less writes music with me and is excited about it.

So that's exciting. I am glad to be collaborating with someone on the music front again. I really missed it. Hopefully soon we will have our first track finished (vocals and all) and a new music myspace account created for it. I'll keep you guys in the loop. ;3

Alot is happening and "things are getting better all the time." So stay tuned readers, more is on the way.

Anime

Well, I thought and thought and thought some more about what my first post here should be and to be honest couldn't really think of anything exciting so...heh...I didn't post anything. XD

But upon logging into today and reading a fellow friend/blogger's recent post I decided I'll be nerdy and post a ridiculously long list. My anime collection to be precise. It proves how much of a life I DON'T have and how much time I waste on my addiction. :P

For a very long time I have more or less dodge this title but now that I am typing out this list, the name Otaku just fits a little too perfectly. I remember quite well the first time I ever heard the word 'Anime.' It was in my freshman English class from a long time friend. He was shocked I had never heard of it and proceeded to let me borrow the first anime I ever watched; Akira. It was from that moment on that I was hooked. I began going out on long searches and watching as much as I could. But back then (1995) anime wasn't really that big. It wasn't really in many stores in the po-dunk Texas town I was in. Even more so people looked at me really funny when I asked for it.

Since then anime has become much more mainstream and well known. A huge highlight was when Hollywood studio Miramax released Princess Mononoke. It had A-list actors doing voiceovers and everything. I feel that changed ALOT of things. Anyways, it's been a long road. All the while I have been building my collection. So without further ado:
